CEBU CITY – Expecting an influx of passengers, authorities have launched the “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Undas 2025” to ensure a smooth and safe travel in time for All Saints’ Day.
From Oct. 30 to Nov. 4, the Cebu Port Authority (CPA), Land Transportation Office-Central Visayas (LTO-7), and Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) will be on heightened alert.
The CPA is expecting 350,000 passengers to travel to their provinces for All Saints’ Day on Nov. 1 and All Souls’ Day on Nov. 2.
Last year, the CPA recorded 261,000 passengers who trooped to various ports in Cebu for Undas.
CPA General Manager Francisco C. Comendador III said 24/7 security operations will be conducted in coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard, Maritime Industry Authority, Philippine National Police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and other law enforcement units.
Explosive and narcotics detection dogs will be deployed while the CPA has coordinated with the Cebu City government for the installation of portalets outside passenger terminals.
Malasakit Help Desks and first aid stations will be put up in every terminal.
Comendador advised passengers not to deal with ticket scalpers. “They are just waiting for their next victims,” Comendador said.
Comendador added that the CPA will strictly implement its “No Ticket, No ID, No Entry” policy and has ordered the monitoring of ticket scalping and porterage overpricing within port premises.
The LTO-7 will intensify road safety measures.
“We have made initial inspections of our public utility vehicles region-wide to make sure that these vehicles are roadworthy. This gives them time to rectify any violations,” LTO-7 chief Glenn Galario said.
