At least 27,500 Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel will be deployed in strategic areas nationwide in the activated “Oplan Kaluluwa for Undas 2025,’’ BFP spokesperson Supt. Bonifacio Carta said on Tuesday, Oct. 28.
In a press briefing, Carta noted that the BFP regional offices across the country were placed on heightened alert (blue alert) from Oct. 20 to 29 and will be upgraded to full alert status (red alert) from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2 with the expected influx of the public during the observance of All Saints and All Souls Days.
Carta explained that the BFP personnel first aid service teams will be present in the motorist assistance desks along the highways, while firetrucks and ambulances will be on standby on strategic locations in coordination with the local government units (LGUs) nationwide.
He assured that the BFP regional directors are prepared to handle emergency and crisis situations with BFP Director Jesus Fernandez issuing a memorandum activating “Oplan Kaluluwa for Undas 2025.’’
The BFP official also cautioned the public to adhere to the government's fire prevention tips posted on the agency's social media accounts.
He also advised the public to switch off their main circuit breakers and unplug their home appliances when leaving their residences to visit their dearly departed ones.
Carta also added that the “Unified 911 Hotline’’ is a big boost in facilitating the BFP’s emergency service as the operators taking the call can immediately transmit the information to the nearest responders in dire need of assistance.
