DAVAO CITY – Around 300 residents of Barangay 18-B here availed of free medical and eye checkup during a medical mission on Tuesday, Oct. 28, organized by the Office of First District Rep. Paolo Duterte and acting Davao City Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte II.
Rep. Duterte said the outreach aimed to provide accessible healthcare services, particularly for residents who cannot afford regular consultations and maintenance medicines.
Rodolfo Deliarte III, 44, a Person with Disability from Doña Salud in Sasa, thanked the Dutertes for medicines for his heart condition.
“This is already my third heart attack. I’m very thankful because I was really determined to come here for assistance with my medication,” Deliarte said, adding that he was able to obtain some of the medicines he could not afford.
William Limbo, 64, a resident of Barangay 18-B, said he had his blood pressure checked and received prescriptions for maintenance medicines and vitamins.
“I’m thankful to the office of Congressman Pulong and Vice Mayor Rigo for their continuous help to people like us who cannot always afford these medicines,” Limbo said.
Dr. Jose Louie Paras said most patients sought consultations for high blood pressure, hypertension, diabetes, and common respiratory infections.
We also provided maintenance medicine and refilled prescriptions for patients under regular monitoring, Paras said.
Rep. Duterte said the medical mission is part of his continuing effort to make healthcare services accessible to all Davaoeños.
“We continue bringing medical services closer to our communities, especially those who need them most. Health is a right, not a privilege,” the lawmaker added.
Vice Mayor Duterte reaffirmed his support for community-based health programs, noting their importance in improving residents’ quality of life.
“We will continue to support initiatives that promote the welfare of our people. We aim to ensure no Davaoeño is left behind regarding health and basic services,” Vice Mayor Duterte said.
