Chronic kidney disease often comes as a side effect when a child acquires diabetes or high blood pressure. These often come from children struggling with obesity. Here are some signs to look out for and prevention tips to keep your child healthy and free from chronic kidney disease.
Signs of chronic kidney disease
If your child is experiencing any of these symptoms, it might be signs of chronic kidney disease.
- Fatigue
- Vomiting
- Loss of appetite
- Urinating more or less than usual
- High blood pressure
How to prevent chronic kidney disease
Keeping your child free from chronic kidney disease is simple. Regular exercise, being hydrated at all times, and having a balanced diet are key to keeping them healthy. Consider enlisting your child in sports or various physical activities during their downtime or give simple tasks that will keep them active. Always have an adequate amount of water on hand to make sure they drink regularly. Limit their sodium and sugar intake by skipping the chips and candy, and instead giving healthy snack alternatives like fruits and low-salt snacks.
