The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Monday, October 27, announced that it has reinforced its fight against polio through a series of vaccination and health promotion activities across the country, in line with the global observance of World Polio Day 2025 on October 24.
In partnership with local health units and community organizations, the humanitarian group conducted simultaneous vaccination campaigns in Tarlac, Ilocos Sur, Aklan, and Negros Occidental, immunizing 176 children with life-saving polio vaccines.
These activities form part of the PRC’s ongoing support for the government’s immunization programs aimed at eradicating polio and other preventable diseases in the Philippines.

Alongside vaccination efforts, 18 PRC chapters nationwide organized health promotion sessions that reached 2,154 individuals across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The sessions highlighted the importance of routine immunization, proper hygiene practices, and community participation in disease prevention. Volunteers and health educators brought these discussions to barangays, schools, and workplaces, empowering families to make informed health decisions for their children.

“Every child vaccinated brings us closer to a polio-free Philippines,” Gordon said. “The Philippine Red Cross remains steadfast in its mission to safeguard health and uphold the dignity of life,” he added.
The PRC said it continues to work closely with local government units, international partners, and health agencies to strengthen community resilience through sustained health awareness and disease prevention campaigns.
