Makati public school science teachers to receive scholarship grants through UST deal
The Makati City government partnered with the University of Sto. Tomas to provide full scholarship grants to 25 public elementary school science teachers under the city's Project TEACH (Teacher Effectiveness and Competence Honing) Program.
Makati Mayor Nancy Binay inked the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the city government and UST on Monday, Oct. 27, together with UST Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Dr. Cheryl Ramos Peralta and Department of Education - Makati (DepEd-Makati) Schools Division Superintendent Ma. Evalou Concepcion Agustin.
"Makati City partnered with UST, one of the country's leading educational institutions, to enhance the teaching competencies of the city's public school teachers through the Certificate in Science Teaching Program, a 6-month post-baccalaureate course focused on science content, professional education, and outcomes-based practice," Binay said.
"By educating the educators, the city aims to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills to better teach Makati's young students in the field of science and technology," she added.
The mayor noted that the partnership is a testament to Makati's continued legacy of prioritizing public education as the greatest equalizer.
Under Makati's Project TEACH, public school teachers are given adequate financial, social, and educational aid by the city government to ensure their productivity and wellness, as well as provide support in their professional development.
In effect, this contributes to the city's goal of providing quality education for learners.
