Fyang Smith on JM Ibarra: 'Sobrang happy ako na dumating siya sa buhay ko'

Kapamilya stars Fyang Smith and JM Ibarra will excite fans as they make their first on-screen debut together in the horror movie "Shake, Rattle, and Roll: Evil Origins," under Regal Entertainment, one of the official entries to the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival.
During a media conference held at Valencia Events Place in Quezon City on Oct. 27, Fyang and JM said they were excited to be part of a horror franchise like "Shake, Rattle, and Roll" that they used to watch when they were younger.
"Malaking bagay na mapasama ang isang baguhan na tulad ko sa isang project na tumatak talaga sa mga Pilipino," said JM. "I am overwhelmed po talaga. (It's a big deal for a newbie like me to be included in a project that really resonates with Filipinos. I am really overwhelmed.)"
Fyang, 19, said she was thrilled to be part of the horror genre movie, adding that she loves horror films.
"Mahilig talaga ako sa horror films. Mahilig talaga ako manood ng horror movies ng isang upuan lang. Sobrang saya ko noong sinabi sa akin na may gagawin akong horror movie dahil matagal ko na talagang pangarap na gumawa ng horror film. (I really love horror films. I really love watching horror movies in one sitting. I was so happy when they told me I was going to do a horror movie because I had really dreamed of doing a horror film for a long time)," she said.
Fyang and JM will be featured in the second of three parts of the horror movie, but they refused to share the film's synopsis, wanting to surprise their fans.
During the film's shoot, Fyang said the team did not experience any negative energy on set.
"Naghihintay nga ako na may maramdaman pero wala po talaga. Nagshoot kami sa isang old house (sa Metro Manila) pero wala talaga kaming naramdaman. (I was waiting to feel something, but there really wasn't. We shot in an old house (in Metro Manila), but we didn't really feel anything)," she said.

Fyang and JM said they are ready for the film's promo, leading to the Parade of Stars for the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival.
"Excited na ako na mapanood ng buo ang movie namin. (I'm excited to watch our movie in its entirety)," Fyang said.
JM smiled, "Malamang magkasama kami sa Pasko. (We'll probably be together for Christmas.)"
On what she's thankful for in 2025, Fyang said, "Sobrang happy ako na dumating siya sa buhay ko. Isa siya sa pinaka unexpected na tao sa buhay ko. Hindi ko akalain na malaki ang impact niya sa buhay ko. Isa siya sa importanteng tao na dumating sa buhay ko. (I'm so happy that he came into my life. He's one of the most unexpected people in my life. I never thought he would have such a big impact on me. He's one of the most important people to come into my life.)"
Reacting to Fyang's statement, JM stated: "Ganun din naman. Maraming salamat sa lahat ng mga sumusuporta sa amin. Siya na agad ang nagbigay sa akin ng suporta. Salamat sa tiwala na binigay mo sa amin since Day 1. (That's right. Thank you very much to all those who support us. She (Fyang) was the one who immediately gave me support. Thank you for the trust you have given us since Day 1."
JM, 24, did not label his relationship with Fyang, saying they were just happy being together. "Enjoy lang kami sa isa't isa at masaya kami working together. (We enjoy each other and we have fun working together.)"
Neither star elaborated on their statements. Both stars rose to fame as Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11 housemates. Fyang said that since they became best friends, they haven't fought or clashed.
Fyang added, "We're really best friends. Close friends. Isa siyang maginoong lalaki. (He's a gentleman)."
JM and Fyang also thanked their fans for their support as they announced that their IWant series "Ghosting" will have its second season. "Dahil sa kanila, may second season ang 'Ghosting' so maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat. (Because of them, 'Ghosting' has a second season, so thank you all very much.)"
