SAN ANDRES, Quezon – An eight-year-old boy was hit and killed by a dump truck while crossing a road on Sunday in Barangay Camflora here.
Investigation said the victim was running an errand for his mother when he was struck.
The victim died on the spot from serious injuries.
The driver of the dump truck Jomar, 30, fled after the accident and was arrested in a checkpoint.
Jomar faces appropriate complaints.
Meanwhile, two elementary students drowned while swimming on the Mayao River at the boundary of Barangay Bigo in Pagbilao, Quezon, and Barangay Mate, this city.
The victims, cousins Roberto and Gabriel, were swimming with another cousin, Janel, without permission from their parents when they were swept away by the strong current.
Authorities recovered Roberto and Gabriel’s bodies in separate areas on the river.
