3 dead, 2 missing as truck plunges into Chico River

THREE construction workers were killed when a truck plunged into the Chico River in Bontoc, Mountain Province.

BONTOC, Mountain Province – Three construction workers were killed and two others are missing after their truck plunged into the Chico River in Barangay Tocucan here on Monday morning, Oct. 27.
The Bontoc Operations Center said the truck transporting five workers was headed to a project site in Sadanga, Mountain Province when it bumped two vehicles parked on the road and dropped into the Chico River.
A search and rescue operation was conducted and three victims were found and declared dead on the spot by Municipal Health Officer Dr. Diga Gomez.
Search, rescue, and retrieval operations are being conducted to ensure the prompt and safe recovery of the other victims.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
