5.3-magnitude aftershock hits off the coast of Davao Oriental
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported a magnitude 5.3 aftershock offshore of Davao Oriental at 8:25 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26.
According to Phivolcs, the tremor was recorded 90 kilometers southeast of Manay, Davao Oriental, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The agency confirmed that the seismic event was an aftershock of the 7.4- and 6.8-magnitude earthquakes that struck the region on Oct. 10.
Phivolcs reminded residents in the affected areas to remain vigilant for possible additional aftershocks and to follow standard earthquake safety protocols, including checking structures for damage and keeping emergency supplies ready.
No immediate reports of casualties or significant damage have been reported in connection with the latest tremor.
