PH embassy honors Thailand's Queen Mother Sirikit: She left a legacy of lifelong service, indelible impact

The Philippine Embassy in Thailand and the Filipino community there extend its “deepest condolences” to Thailand’s Royal Family and the Thai people for the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother.
In a statement on Saturday, Oct. 25, the embassy remembered The Queen Mother “with profound respect and admiration, for her unwavering devotion to the Thai people.”
“Her Majesty has left an indelible impact on the Kingdom of Thailand and its people through her efforts in championing rural development and livelihood generation, empowering local artisans to preserve traditional Thai crafts, and promoting the preservation of Thai culture,” the embassy said.
“Her Majesty's legacy of lifelong service and dedication to the Kingdom of Thailand will endure in the hearts of the Thai people and continue to inspire generations to come,” it added.
The 93-year-old Queen Sirikit, the mother of Thailand's King Vajiralongkorn, died on Friday, Oct. 24, the Thai Royal Household Bureau.
Since 2019, she had suffered from “several illnesses” while in the hospital. This includes a blood infection just this month.
The Queen Mother, who was married to Thai’s longest-reigning monarch, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, was seen a style icon during the late King’s reign.
“The Filipino community in Thailand stands in solidarity with the people of Thailand in mourning the loss of their beloved Mother of the Nation,” the embassy said. “May Her Majesty The Queen Mother rest in eternal peace.”
