Man suffocated to death in Marikina fire

A 50-year-old man reportedly died of suffocation during a fire in a residential area in Barangay Tañong, Marikina City, early Saturday, Oct. 25.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire started at around 2:09 a.m. and was extinguished at approximately 2:56 a.m.
Based on initial information, the victim led and ensured that his wife and grandchildren were safely brought out of their home. He reportedly went back inside to retrieve his valuables but could not get out.
Six houses were reportedly affected by the fire, impacting 26 individuals.
Authorities said the fire caused an estimated P350,000 in damage. The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
