Light now a two-time MVP as Aurora Gaming wins big in Alamat awards
Dylan “Light” Catipon ventured out overseas for quite some time, only to find his way back home with Aurora in the MPL Philippines Season 16.
And when he returned, he made sure to have a homecoming in style.
The Aurora roamer bagged his second regular season MVP award as the rest of his team came out as the big winners in the Alamat Awards at the Cuneta Astrodome on Friday, Oct. 24.
Light proved to be the missing piece Aurora needed, as, after the team fell short of claiming a top 2 finish last season to reach the Mid-Season Cup, he steered the Northern Lights to top of the Season 16 standings.
It was now Light’s second MVP award after winning it first during Season 9 when he was still with RSG Philippines.
He is the latest roamer to win the plum after Jonmar “OhmyV33nus” Villaluna of Blacklist International and Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo of AP.Bren won the same award in Seasons 10 and 11, respectively.
Light, meanwhile, is joined by teammates Kenneth “Yue” Tadeo, Edward “EDWARD” Dapadap, Jan Dominic “Domengkite” Del Mundo and Team Liquid PH jungler Karl “Karltzy” Nepomuceno in the first All-Star team.
Aurora jungler Jonard “Demonkite” Caranto, meanwhile, led the second All-Star team along side with TLPH’s Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya and Jaypee “Jaypee” Dela Cruz and Onic PH’s Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez, Duane “Kelra” Pillas.
Domengkite also bagged the Most Improved player award while the coaching duo of Aniel “Masters the Basic” Jiandani and Dexter “Dexstar” Alaba bagged the Coach of the Year award.
Miguel “Sionnn” Alcantara of Twisted Minds PH, meanwhile, claimed the Rookie of the Year.
