Gerald Santos: A dreamer's journey from Famas triumph to the world stage

When Gerald Santos speaks of dreams, he does so not with idealism but with lived truth. “Dreams don’t expire. They evolve,” he says, a statement that captures the very essence of his journey from a young talent show winner to one of the Philippines’ most respected and globally recognized artists.
Fresh from his Famas Award win for 'Best Original Song' for 'Hamon', the theme from the film Mamay, composed by Vehnee Saturno, Gerald stands on the brink of another milestone. His highly anticipated solo concert, 'Dreams,' will take place on Dec. 3, 2025, at 8 p.m. at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. This night promises not only to celebrate his musical evolution but to honor the enduring spirit of Original Pilipino Music (OPM).
Gerald’s Famas victory is more than a personal achievement; it is a tribute to the power of Filipino music. “This win isn’t just mine,” he says humbly. “It’s for everyone who believes in OPM.”
That belief has carried him from humble beginnings to the global stage. His path from Pinoy Pop Superstar champion at age 15 to performing over 550 shows in the UK Tour of 'Miss Saigon' is a testament to his discipline and devotion. It is a journey that proves Filipino talent knows no borders.
Recently, Gerald shared another proud chapter in his story, a sold-out concert in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, alongside Geneva Cruz.
The performance drew hundreds of Filipinos and locals alike, evidence that his music resonates far beyond the Philippines. His courtesy visit to the Philippine Embassy there, with his manager Rommel Ramilo, symbolized more than diplomatic respect; it affirmed his role as an ambassador of Filipino artistry abroad.
‘Dreams’ is a tribute concert produced by PrinStar Entertainment and Legalas Entertainment in cooperation with Echo Jham Entertainment Productions. 'Dreams' is designed as more than a concert; it’s a musical autobiography.
Under the musical direction of Jason Cabato and the concert direction of Antonino Rommel Ramilo, Gerald will perform songs that have shaped his identity and artistry.
Joining him are powerhouse guests like the 'Singer’s Singer' of the Philippines, Jed Madela; acclaimed international theatre actress, best known for her portrayal of Fantine in 'Les Misérables', Na Young Jeon; and OPM legend and timeless hitmaker, Marco Sison, and featured artists Kim Hewitt, Failene Malijan, and Andrea Gutierrez, the country’s 'Bossa Nova Princess.'
Gerald will also pay homage to OPM icons Pilita Corrales, Freddie Aguilar, Hajji Alejandro, and Nora Aunor, performing their signature songs as a heartfelt tribute. 'It’s my small way of saying thank you to those who shaped our music and our nation’s soul.'
'Dreams' promises to be a landmark event, a blend of storytelling, reflection, and celebration. For Gerald, every song is a memory, every note a message. “Every number in this concert has a story,” he shares. “It’s my heart speaking through music.”
From his early triumphs to international acclaim, Gerald has shown that artistry is not defined by fame alone, but by purpose and perseverance. His story is one of evolution, of a young dreamer who never stopped believing, and of a Filipino artist redefining what it means to carry one’s heritage to the world stage.
