Three Chinese nationals have been arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for overstaying and violating immigration laws.
The BI identified those arrested as Chen Shiwei, Pan Xin, and Wang Jianqiang.
It said that upon verification, Chen and Pan were found to have overstayed since 2024, while Wang was found to be a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operation (POGO) employee who failed to depart the country following the government’s crackdown on POGO operations.
They were arrested by the operatives of the BI’s Immigration Protection and Border Enforcement Section (I-PROBES) before they could board their flight for Incheon, South Korea.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said he has ordered an investigation of an individual who was suspected to have aided the three foreigners.
Viado warned overstaying aliens that the BI remains firm in enforcing immigration laws and pursuing those who attempt to undermine the country’s border security.
