Rubber farm worker killed in blast

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A worker was killed in an explosion in a rubber farm in Barangay Mangal, Sumisip municipality, Basilan province on Thursday, Oct. 23.

Police identified the victim as John Roy Alvarez, 35.

Investigation disclosed that Alvarez was working near a rubber tree when the explosion occurred.

He was taken to a hospital in Isabela City, Basilan where he was declared dead.

Police are probing the incident.

Soldiers have dispatched to secure the area.
