PAGASA: Cloudy skies, scattered rains to persist in parts of PH until end of October
Cloudy skies and scattered rains are expected to continue over several parts of the country in the coming days due to the combined effects of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and the shear line, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its weather outlook for Oct. 24 to 31.
From Friday to Saturday, Oct. 24 to 25, mostly cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will prevail over the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Palawan due to the ITCZ.
ITCZ is an area where winds from the northern and southern hemispheres converge, often bringing rain clouds and thunderstorms.
Scattered rains and thunderstorms are also expected in Batanes and Babuyan Islands due to the shear line, a weather system formed by the collision of cold winds from the northeast monsoon (amihan) and warm winds from the Pacific Ocean (easterlies).
The rest of the country will have generally fair weather, although isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may still occur.
From Sunday to Monday, Oct. 26 to 27, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will likely continue over Visayas, Mindanao, Albay, and Sorsogon due to the ITCZ.
The shear line may also continue to bring cloudy skies and scattered rains to Batanes and Babuyan Islands, while most of Luzon is expected to experience fair weather with possible isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Between Tuesday and Friday, Oct. 28 to 31, the shear line will continue to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon or evening.
