Makati City Mayor Nancy Binay launched on Thursday, Oct. 23, the city's Mega Job Fair, wherein over 6,000 local and overseas job vacancies were offered to job seekers by 54 companies from various industries.
Spearheaded by the Makati Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the Mega Job Fair was held at the Ayala Malls Circuit Activity Center in Makati City and was attended by Makati PESO OIC Romulo SJ Salgado and other city government and national government officials.
A One-Stop Shop service station designed to streamline support for job seekers. Among the participating agencies were the Social Security System (SSS), PAG-IBIG Fund, PhilHealth, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
"Through programs like the Mega Job Fair, the City Government of Makati reaffirms its dedication to empowering every Makatizen with meaningful work opportunities and accessible public services for a more inclusive and progressive community," Binay said.
The mayor had earlier vowed to improve the city's employment and education sector as she pushes for a more inclusive and people-centered city under her leadership.
The city government launched the Pantawid Trabaho Program (PTP), which provides temporary employment to 5,000 beneficiaries.
Under the program, qualified residents aged 18 years and above, including senior citizens and pregnant women who are fit to work, were hired to render community service for 15 days at a daily wage of P695.
The program aims to provide short-term income support while promoting productivity and social participation among residents.
The Makati PESO also achieved an outstanding placement rate from July to September, successfully helping thousands of referred job seekers secure employment.
