The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) has expressed openness to accepting a new member for the sake of proving that it is neutral in its investigation after being commissioned by President Marcos:.
ICI Executive Director Brian Hosaka said Friday, Oct. 24, that the body does “not oppose any proposal which will enhance the independence of the ICI especially if it is through legislation".
Hosaka’s remark came after Senator Alan Peter Cayetano suggested the inclusion of a member of the opposition in the ICI for “fairness".
The senator also wanted religious leaders to be part of the body so as to make it "bulletproof".
Just the same, Hosaka defended the current composition of the ICI, and pointed out that “no politician is a member.”
The current ICI members are retired Supreme Court (SC) associate justice Andres Reyes Jr., engineer and former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) secretary Babes Singson, and SGV and Co. Country Managing Partner Rossana Fajardo.
"This is ideal since the ICI will be shielded from any political agenda or motive," Hosaka said.
"The ICI needs to remain this way to effectively deliver its mandate," he added.
