Various civil society and youth groups gathered at the EDSA Shrine on Friday, Oct. 24, to renew their call for accountability over the alleged ghost flood control projects.
Carrying white ribbons and banners, protesters demanded that those involved in the anomalies be held responsible and that public funds be returned to the people.
“Hindi kami titigil hangga’t walang napapanagot at naibabalik sa taumbayan ang perang ninakaw (We will not stop until no one is held accountable and the stolen money is returned to the people),” the groups said during the program.
The “White Friday Protest” began at 5:00 p.m. at the EDSA Shrine and was followed by a prayer rally and noise barrage at Ateneo Gate 2.5 along Katipunan Avenue at 5:30 p.m., led by student organizations from the Ateneo de Manila University.
Participants vowed to sustain peaceful actions in the coming weeks until justice is served and government transparency is upheld.
