Publicly-listed firm A. Brown Co., Inc. (ABCI) reported that its energy holding platform has acquired a 40 percent stake in two wind projects of the renewable Energy (RE) platform Alternergy Holdings Corp.
In a statement on Friday, Oct. 24, ABC Energy said it has acquired a 40 percent equity stake in Alternergy Tanay Wind Corp. (ATWC) and Alabat Wind Power Corp. (AWPC), which manage two wind projects in Rizal and Quezon.
This acquisition amounted to ₱2.4 billion, while Alternegy Wind Holdings Corp. will retain its 60 percent ownership in the two project companies.
“The investment by ABC Energy marks a significant step in expanding its renewable energy portfolio, following the divestment of its coal power interest in Palm Concepcion Power Corporation in July 2025,” it said.
This partnership aligns with Alternergy’s strategy to reinvest its capital into its upcoming projects in wind, solar, run-of-river, and battery energy storage.
Gerry P. Magbanua, president of Alternergy, said the new investment would support the development of the 128-megawatt (MW) Tanay and 64-MW Alabat wind projects. These two wind farms are scheduled for completion sometime by early 2026.
“A Brown has a proven investment history in energy and resources development. We also acknowledge the Brown family’s longstanding presence of over 90 years with the progressive municipality of Tanay,” he said.
“Our ₱2.4 billion investment represents the largest single investment across the A Brown Group to date and aligns with our strategy to accelerate green energy initiatives. A Brown is also present in Tanay through its real estate holdings and development activities, contributing to the area’s continued growth,” said Paul Juat, ABC Energy president.
In August, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) approved the projects’ plans to connect the power supply generated from the wind farm to the nation’s grid via a point-to-point (P2P) transmission facility.
ATWC’s P2P transmission development for the Tanay wind project is valued at ₱2.8 billion, while it would cost ₱1.8 billion for AWPC to develop its grid connection for the Alabat wind farm.
