TNT is not only seeking its first win streak of the season but also the early lead in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup standings when it clashes against Titan Ultra at the Ynares Center in Antipolo on Friday, Oct. 24.
Fresh off a dominant victory over the Converge FiberXers in Vigan, the Tropang 5G battle the Giant Risers in the 7:30 p.m. affair with the chance to go for back-to-back wins and move to the top of the standings with a 3-1 record.
Aiming to get back into the win column, meanwhile, are Rain or Shine and Blackwater when they tangle in the first offering at 5:15 p.m.
RR Pogoy is expected to be at the forefront of the attack for TNT, which had a scintillating shooting display in their last game where it fired a total of 22 field goals from beyond the arc – the most by any PBA team since NLEX tied the record 23 conversions two years ago.
The Cebuano gunner had six of those three-point makes while Calvin Oftana and Kelly Williams fired four apiece. Even Rey Nambatac also contributed, drilling two four-pointers – none bigger than the one he nailed late in the contest to shut the door on any Converge comeback.
But out to prove that they are no pushovers are the Giant Risers who are looking to recover from their 119-127 setback against the Magnolia Hotshots even with main man Calvin Abueva still questionable due to hamstring issues.
Much of the load falls to the shoulders of Joshua Munzon though he will surely need more from the likes Cade Flores, Fran Yu, Jeo Ambohot and Von Pessumal if they wish to pull the rug from under the mighty TNT.
Meanwhile in the curtain raiser, both the Elasto Painters and the Bossing are hoping to erase the bitter taste of their defeats in their last games.
ROS succumbed to San Miguel, 93-111, while Blackwater absorbed a 96-105 loss to Meralco.
Primed to lead the way for the Elasto Painters is spitfire guard Adrian Nocum along with fellow PBA rising stars Leonard Santillan, Gian Mamuyac, and Andrei Caracut. Caelan Tiongson and veterans Gabe Norwood and Beau Belga will be providing the poise and leadership.
For the Bossing, they will be leaning on Sedrick Barefield to carry the fight especially following a stellar 34-point explosion last time out. Out to provide support are rookie Dalph Panopio and versatile wing man Christian David.
