Pasig LGU provides P7.5-M financial aid to disaster hit provinces
The local government of Pasig has provided a total of P7.5 million in financial assistance to several provinces affected by recent earthquakes and Typhoons Nando and Opong.
Since early October, the city has been distributing aid after a 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck Bogo City and the Province of Cebu on Sept. 30. The relief efforts were later extended to other provinces affected by earthquakes and typhoons that followed.
The Province of Davao Oriental was the latest to receive financial assistance from the city government, amounting to P2 million, following the recent twin earthquakes that measured magnitude 7.4 and 6.8.

It was delivered on Tuesday, Oct. 21, by a delegation composed of Human Resource Development Officer Elvira R. Flores, Peace and Order Department/Traffic and Parking Management Office Head Ret. Col. Rodrigo de Dios, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) representatives Stephanie Yao, Kris Castañeda, and Trixie Anne Loyola.
Last Oct. 14, Mayor Vico Sotto, together with Pasig City DRRMO Head Bryant Wong, personally handed over P500,000 in financial assistance to Julius Addatu, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator, and Rowena Maraggun as representatives of Mayor Joseph Llopis of Calayan, Cagayan. The municipality was among those affected by Typhoon Nando.
Last Oct. 13, the Province of Masbate, which was heavily affected by Typhoon Opong, received P1 million in financial assistance from the Pasig City government during the province’s flag-raising ceremony. The aid was received by Masbate Governor Atty. Ricardo Kho.

The Province of Oriental Mindoro, which was also affected by Typhoon Opong, received P1 million in financial assistance personally handed over by Sotto to Governor Bonz Dolor and First Lady Hiyas Govinda Dolor on Oct. 9.
On the same day, Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro received P2,000,000 in financial assistance from a Pasig City delegation in the province, led by 12th Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Disaster Resilience Chairperson Councilor Warren Inocencio, along with Councilor Volta Delos Santos and Councilor Buboy Agustin.
Meanwhile, on Oct. 8, the local government first turned over P1 million to Bogo City.

The local government said the funds came from the 2025 Pasig City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund-Quick Response Fund (QRF).
The QRF is a standby emergency facility used to finance urgent relief and recovery efforts, enabling communities to return to normal after disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons.
The provision of financial assistance to six local government units affected by earthquakes and several typhoons was approved under Pasig City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC) Resolution Nos. 3 and 4, s. 2025, which were adopted through Pasig City Council Resolution Nos. 83-12 and 100-12, s. 2025.
