The Ceremonial Destruction of Violative Products activity was conducted in coordination with the Eastern Police District (EPD) at around 10 a.m. at the DTI-FTEB Warehouse, DTI NCRO Compound on Russet Street, Concepcion II.
EPD said the destroyed products included ceramic plumbing fixtures and steel items, which were confiscated through the regular nationwide enforcement operations of DTI-FTEB, conducted in collaboration with DTI Regional and Provincial Offices and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
According to DTI Fair Trade Supervising Head Assistant Sec. Regino Mallari Jr., the seized products lacked certification.
The EPD added that the seized products were found to be non-compliant, lacking the mandatory Philippine Standard (PS) and Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) markings, which is a direct violation of Republic Act No. 4109, or the Product Standards Law.
Mallari said that low-quality products pose significant safety hazards to consumers and may compromise the integrity of infrastructure.
The destruction activity was part of the DTI’s ongoing commitment to protect consumer welfare and ensure fair trade practices under the banner of its campaign, “Bida ang Konsyumer sa Bagong Pilipinas.” It highlights the agency’s strict enforcement of product standards and regulatory compliance.
The activity serves as a reminder to manufacturers that producing or selling non-certified or non-conforming products benefits no one.
It also reiterates DTI's zero-tolerance stance on the distribution and sale of substandard and uncertified products in the market, affirming its commitment to uphold consumer safety and confidence under the Bagong Pilipinas.
