Mayor Isko orders full police visibility as Manila prepares for Christmas season
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagooso on Thursday, Oct. 23, ordered law enforcement personnel in Manila to ensure maximum police visibility around the Capital City as part of the city government's preparations for the upcoming holiday season.
Domagoso made the directive during the Manila Peace and Order Council meeting attended by the Manila Police District (MPD) and other city government officials, wherein he asked them to intensify the city's campaign to maintain peace and order in coordination with the police force, barangays, and other law enforcement agencies.
He also instructed the MPD to deploy additional personnel and conduct round-the-clock patrols in high-density areas such as Binondo, Recto, Quiapo, Ermita, Malate, and the University Belt.
“Ngayong papalapit na ang Pasko, siguraduhin nating may presensiya ang pulis sa kalsada. Hindi lang sa mga presinto, kundi sa mga lugar kung saan naroon ang mga tao. Visible dapat ang pulis sa mga pangunahing lugar lalo na ngayong holiday season (As Christmas approaches, let's make sure the police have a presence on the streets. Not just at the precincts, but in places where people are. The police should be visible in key areas especially during this holiday season)," the mayor stressed.
“Ang gusto natin, ligtas, mapayapa, at maayos ang Pasko sa Maynila. Titiyakin natin 'yan para sa mga Batang Maynila at sa mga bumibisita sa ating lungsod (We want a safe, peaceful, and orderly Christmas in Manila. We will ensure that for the children of Manila and those visiting our city)," he added.
Domagoso had earlier praised the MPD for keeping criminality in Manila to a minimum during his First 100 Days Report last Oct. 8.
According to him, the MPD reported a 9.2 percent increase in the crime solution efficiency rate, which means the police's crime response programs and initiatives are working and continue to help decrease the number of crimes being committed in the city.
