Authorities arrested a 34-year-old man on Wednesday morning, Oct. 23, for allegedly stealing a bicycle in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
The suspect, identified as Gerry Laoreno, a resident of Lico Street, Tondo, was apprehended after being caught on CCTV taking a bicycle parked in front of a residence at 1555 Cavite Street, Barangay 209, Zone 19, Sta. Cruz.
According to a police report from Police Station 7 (PS7), the complainant, Jeyson Sia, 29, reported that his bicycle was missing from where it had been parked outside his home.
Sia immediately went to Barangay 209 to check surveillance footage, where he saw the suspect walking away with his bicycle along Lico Street toward Pampanga Street.
The complainant pursued Laoreno and confronted him. During the heated exchange, Barangay Tanod Daniel Laberin intervened.
When it was confirmed through CCTV footage that Laoreno had taken the bicycle, Laberin promptly effected the arrest and turned the suspect over to the police.
Laoreno was brought to PS7 at around 1:45 p.m. and is now facing charges for Theft under Article 308 of the Revised Penal Code.
