BEC, ACMobility to debut co-branded EV charging at Total stations
Basic Energy Corp.'s (BEC) subsidiary has partnered with Ayala-led ACMobility to co-develop electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and integrate them into a mobile application system, supporting the country’s growing EV adoption.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Thursday, Oct. 23, BEC said its renewable energy and e-mobility division, Basic Energy Renewable Corp. (BERC), along with ACMobility, will install EV charging stations at select Total retail locations.
BEC said BERC and ACMobility will also integrate these services into the Evro platform, allowing drivers to find, monitor, and pay for charging.
The co-branded Basic RePower-ACMobility charging facility will debut at the Total station along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
Evro, an Ayala Group application, connects EV drivers to an all-in-one platform, while Basic RePower denotes a charging station powered by renewable energy (RE).
Oscar de Venecia Jr., BEC’s Chief Executive Officer, framed the partnership as a move toward advancing environmentally friendly transportation.
“Together, we aim to make EV charging more accessible, convenient, and powered by renewable energy—enabling Filipino motorists to take part in the journey toward a greener future,” de Venecia said.
The collaboration aligns with BEC’s Green Energy E-Transport Program (GEEP), which was initiated in 2023, and supports the company’s broader RE roadmap, encompassing investments in solar, wind, geothermal, and energy storage.
BEC is planning to expand its EV network in Luzon, with pilot stations slated for the EcoOil station on EDSA and a site in Cainta, Rizal.
ACMobility, which distributes Kia and BYD vehicles and operates Bosch Car Service workshops, maintains existing charging hubs across Luzon, with a growing presence in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
Separately, de Venecia noted the company is seeking ₱300 million ($5.3 million) within the next two to three years to scale up its green energy investments beyond the EV charging fleet.
