Woman who exposed Korean actor Lee Yi-kyung's private life apologizes
A woman who exposed private messages of Korean actor Lee Yi-kyung has apologized, claiming that the images were AI-generated.
The woman earlier took to social media and posted alleged lewd messages from Lee Yi-kyung, who starred in the Korean drama “Marry My Husband.”
Sangyoung Entertainment, the actor’s agency, earlier issued a statement vowing to take legal action.
“Regarding the recent posting and distribution of false information and malicious rumors on online communities and social media, we are preparing legal action against any damages caused by these false rumors. Given the severity of this matter, we will assess the extent of direct and indirect damages resulting from the spread of these false rumors and take all appropriate measures,” it said.
It added, “Regarding the above-mentioned incidents, not only the writing of such information but also the indiscriminate posting and distribution of such information are subject to legal action. Please be mindful to avoid unnecessary damage.”
The blogger, who identified herself as a German, said she asked money one time from the actor.
"I had money issues, and I couldn't ask my parents for money, so I asked (Lee Yi-kyung. However, I never received any money, and I haven't asked for money again since,” she wrote.
As the issue blew up, the blogger backtracked on her claims.
“Hello, everyone in Korea. As some of you know, I’ve been posting various photos related to actor Lee Yi-kyung. It started as a joke, and I didn’t expect it to get so much attention. As I kept posting and using AI-generated images, I started to believe my own posts,” she wrote, SBS News reported.
She added, ““I’m truly sorry for spreading malicious rumors about Lee. What began as my love for him as a fan turned into emotional overinvestment. Something that started for fun began to feel real, and I feel guilty. If there’s any responsibility I need to take, I will.”
