BACOLOD CITY – The body of a woman was found in a grassy vacant lot at the reclamation area in Barangay 12 on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 22.
Police Capt. Francis Depasucat, head of Police Station 1, said that a passerby who entered the lot to relieve himself discovered the body at 1 p.m.
The victim’s hands and feet were tied together, and her lower garments were pulled down.
The woman is believed to be in her early 20s, standing between 5’2” and 5’4,” and was wearing a blue T-shirt.
Her body bore signs of physical struggle, including scratches and bruises, suggesting she tried to resist her attacker, according to Depasucat.
Police have established her identity but are withholding her name pending notification of her family.
Depasucat said the woman was last seen alive on Tuesday, Oct. 21, when she reported for training in a local construction firm. Investigators are now tracing people she may have interacted with after work hours.
Authorities are facing challenges due to limited evidence and are seeking closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footage to help retrace the victim’s movements before her body was found.
Further investigation is ongoing.
