ILOILO CITY – Another suspect in the rape and killing of a Slovakian tourist in world-famous Boracay Island last March was arrested this week.
The Aklan Police Provincial Office confirmed the arrest of Ronald, a 38-year-old resident of the country’s most famous beach destination in Malay town.
Another suspect, Rajel, was also served a separate warrant in Kalibo town, Aklan, where he is detained for possession of illegal firearms.
The victim, 23-year-old Michaela Mickova, was found lifeless inside an abandoned chapel last March 12.
“Both Ronald and Rajel are facing rape with homicide,” said Police Capt. Aubrey Ayon, provincial police spokesperson.
Ayon said that the suspects were arrested on a warrant issued by Judge Montalid Polines Patnubay Jr. of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 19 dated Oct. 17, 2025.
The case against the suspects was built by the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) chaired by Aklan police chief Police Col. Arnel Ramos and the groundwork of the Malay Municipal Police Station (MPS).
The Police Regional Office-6 lauded operating units who arrested Ronald – the Malay MPS, the Aklan PPO Tracker Team, the Aklan Provincial Intelligence Unit , the Regional Intelligence Unit 6-PIT Aklan, the Boracay Maritime Monitoring Team, and the Aklan MARPSTA.
“We continue to pursue wanted persons to ensure that justice prevails,” said PRO-6 chief Police Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan.
