The Quezon City government was awarded as Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit (LGU) award for the third consecutive year by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
The LGU received the recognition under the Highly Urbanized Cities – National Capital Region (NCR) category during the 51st Philippine Business Conference & Expo held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
Mayor Joy Belmonte and Margie Mejia, head of the Business Permits and Licensing Department (BPLD), accepted the award on behalf of the city government.
The city government has implemented various reforms to digitalize and automate its business processes, a move aimed at streamlining services and eliminating opportunities for corruption.
“Iba’t ibang mga reporma at pagbabago ang isinulong ng ating lokal na pamahalaan alinsunod sa layunin..na i-digitalize o i-automate ang ating business processes upang maging madali, mabilis, maayos at mawakasan ang korapsyon — mula sa mahabang pila para sa pag-apply at renew ng business permit na ngayo’y online na, hanggang sa libreng delivery nito. Tunay na sa QC, doing business is easy (Our local government has pushed through various reforms and changes in line to digitize or automate our business processes to make them easier, faster, more efficient, and to end corruption — from the long lines for applying and renewing business permits that are now online, to their free delivery. It's true that in QC, doing business is easy),” Mayor Belmonte said on her X account.
Through the Quezon City E-Services portal, business owners can file, process, and renew their permits online, cutting processing time and ensuring convenience.
The city also offers free delivery of permits to further reduce in-person transactions and streamline government service delivery.
“This recognition is a testament to our collective effort to make Quezon City a place where businesses can thrive and residents can benefit from sustainable economic growth,” Belmonte said.
With this year’s win, the city government officially joins the ranks of the PCCI Hall of Fame, solidifying its reputation as a model city for good governance and business efficiency in the National Capital Region.
