Ombudsman Remulla orders NBI to probe on fire that hit DPWH office in QC
The Office of the Ombudsman (OMB) asked the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to conduct a probe on the fire that hit the office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Quezon City on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
In a statement, Assistant Ombudsman Jose Dominic Clavano IV said Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla wanted to know if the fire was intentional or accidental.
Several DPWH personnel are under investigation in the anomalous flood control projects that cost the government billions of pesos.
Clavano said: “The Ombudsman has directed the immediate coordination with the National Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to determine the cause of the fire and to establish whether arson or any deliberate act was committed.”
The fire reportedly started around 12:30 p.m. and reached the third alarm at 12:56 p.m. The BFP-National Capital Region declared it was fire out around 1:34 p.m.
