Authorities on Wednesday, Oct. 22, confirmed one more fatality from the doublet earthquakes that shook Manay, Davao Oriental two weeks ago, bringing the death toll to 10.
A report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) revealed that all 10 fatalities were recorded in Davao (Region 11). There were also 176 injured individuals: 83 in Region 11 and 93 in Caraga (Region 13).
A total of 362,789 families composed of 1,511,854 individuals were affected by the twin tremors.
Around 2,300 individuals were still staying in 10 evacuation centers or in open spaces, fearing that if they return to their homes, aftershocks may occur at any given moment.
Since the magnitude 7.4 and 6.8 earthquakes that occurred on Oct. 10, authorities have recorded 1,629 aftershocks, with a magnitude range of 1 to 5.8.
There were also 25,603 damaged houses that were reported in Regions 11 and 13.
Authorities have since provided P98.58 million worth of relief assistance to the affected communities.
