Sandoval directed the Malabon Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), City Social Welfare and Development Department (CSWDD), and other concerned offices to conduct a rapid damage assessment once the fire is declared out.
She also instructed local departments to prepare evacuation centers, mobilize hot meals and food packs, distribute tents, shelter repair kits, and financial aid, and deploy Mobile Jeannie Services—including mobile water, shower, and laundry stations—to ensure that immediate assistance reaches all affected residents.
“Habang inaapula po ang sunog na ito, atin nang siniguro na ang bawat departamento ng lungsod ay nakahandang tumulong. Patuloy po tayong mag-ingat at makipag-ugnayan sa pamahalaang lungsod. Naririto lamang kami upang umalalay sa inyo (While the fire is still being contained, we have already ensured that every city department is ready to respond. Let’s continue to stay safe and coordinate with the city government. We are here to help you),” she said.
The city government said displaced families are currently staying at the Catmon Evacuation Center, while additional shelters are being readied to accommodate more evacuees if necessary.
The LGU assured that coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and other emergency units continues to ensure the safety and welfare of affected communities and to expedite relief efforts.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the blaze reached Task Force Alpha level around 5:54 p.m.
As of this writing, firefighters were still trying to extinguish the fire.
