DPWH: Flood control files safe after fire hits Quezon City office

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) assured the public that all records for the ongoing flood control investigation remained safe after a fire hit its research and standards office in Quezon City on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
Initial reports from DPWH indicated that the blaze, which caused no injuries, started when a computer unit inside the Materials Testing Division exploded.
The Bureau of Research and Standards (BRS), responsible for research, studies, pilot testing, and policy formulation for government infrastructure projects, immediately deployed an investigation team.
The team is currently assessing the full extent of the damage and implementing measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The Bureau of Fire Protection–National Capital Region (BFP-NCR) said the fire along NIA Road in Barangay Pinyahan was first reported at 12:39 p.m.
It escalated to a third alarm by 12:56 p.m., with at least 10 fire trucks responding to the scene.
DPWH assured the public that further updates will be provided as additional information becomes available.
