Malacañang has distanced itself from the calls to investigate the alleged misuse of confidential and intelligence funds of Vice President Sara Duterte.

Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said it is up to the Ombudsman to conduct the investigation.

"It's in the hands of the Office of the Ombudsman," Castro said on Tuesday, Oct. 21.

Castro made the statement when sought for reaction on the current calls for the Ombudsman to probe the alleged misuse of confidential funds.

On Monday, Akbayan Party and Tindig Pilipinas has filed a letter before the Office of the Ombudsman, urging it to take immediate action on Duterte’s alleged misuse of confidential and intelligence funds and supposed abuse of power.
