ZAMBOANGA CITY – Major Gen. Donald M. Gumiran was formally installed as 21st commander of the Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command during a ceremony in Camp Basilio Navarro here on Monday, Oct. 20.
Armed Forces Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. presided over the event.
"I fully embrace this role with faith and will adhere to the vision of competence and professionalism,” vowed Gumiran in his message.
He promised to continue partnerships with local governments and other government agencies to ensure strengthened security in the region.
Gumiran took over from Brig. Gen. Romulo Quemado who served as acting commander after the appointment of Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete as Army commanding general last July.
Gumiran served as concurrent commander of the 6th Infantry Division after his appointment on Oct. 6 as Westmincom chief.
