A Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey conducted from Sept. 24 to 30 revealed that most Filipinos want President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to focus on reducing the prices of rice and other food products.
The SWS Third Quarter 2025 Social Weather Survey, fielded through face-to-face interviews with 1,500 adult respondents, found that 56 percent Filipinos identified lowering the prices of rice and other food products such as meat, fish, and vegetables as the top national issue that Marcos should address.
The call to reduce food prices was strongest in Mindanao (61 percent), followed by the Visayas (59 percent), Balance Luzon (55 percent), and Metro Manila (44 percent).
It was also slightly higher in rural areas (57 percent) than in urban areas (54 percent).
Meanwhile, 31 percent of respondents said the President should prioritize addressing corruption issues in government, such as those involving the Department of Public Works and Highways.
This concern ranked highest in Metro Manila (45 percent). Balance Luzon followed (32 percent), the Visayas (31 percent), and Mindanao (19 percent).
It was also higher in urban areas (34 percent) than in urban areas (28 percent).
Other issues that respondents said the President should address were the provision of adequate education (7 percent) and healthcare facilities (4 percent), while 3 percent said they did not know enough to give an opinion.
The survey question was commissioned by Stratbase Consultancy, and the results were released by SWS as a sponsor-authorized disclosure for the benefit of the public.
