Marcos led the launch of the Toll Collection System Interoperability Project, dubbed "One RFID, All Tollways" on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
After overseeing the the online registration process for the toll collection system, the President urged motorists to sign up to the system.
"[S]a mga wala pang account, iniimbitahan namin kayo na subukan ninyo ito. Madali lang ang proseso. Tiyak na malaking tulong sa inyong paglalakbay (For those who still do not have an account, we invite you to try this. The process is easy. This will surely be a big help to your trip)," Marcos said in his speech during the launch held in Calamba City, Laguna.
Marcos stressed that the project is a landmark move to simplify cross-border travel and reduce congestion.
The voluntary registration enables subscribers to unify their experience under a single, interoperable system. Early adopters can keep their current accounts while opting into the new unified RFID, minimizing the need for multiple tags and wallets at toll plazas.
Marcos said the milestone was the culmination of an extensive development and testing program designed to ensure seamless operations across all participating toll roads in Luzon.
"This project has been made possible because of the continued trust, commitment, and flexibility of our partner concessionaires, the operators, and ETC/RFID providers," Marcos said.
"Years of consultation and cooperation with the DOTr and the Toll Regulatory Board have finally led us to a unified system that responds to the real needs of our motorists," he added.
Testing cycles began in December 2023, focusing on accurate balance updating, transaction integrity, and real-time inter-system communication.
The Chief Executive thanked the San Miguel and Metro Pacific Investments Corporations "for being part of the solution."
"This is once more proof that together, we can create innovative solutions to the everyday challenges faced by our people," he said.
Marcos also reminded subscribers to ensure that they have enough load in their RFID before starting their trip.
He assured them that the work to improve the country's transport system continues.
"Mas gaganda pa po ito kung magtutulungan tayong lahat. Kaya tuloy-tuloy ang kooperasyon at disiplina sa kalsada (It would be better if we work together. Let the cooperation and discipline at roads continue)," he said.
With the One RFID, All Tollways system, motorists could now use a single RFID sticker when using Luzon toll expressways.
These are the Skyway, South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), STAR Tollway, Tarlac–Pangasinan–La Union Expressway (TPLEX), Ninoy Aquino International Airport Expressway (NAIAx), Muntinlupa–Cavite Expressway (MCX), North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), NLEX Connector, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (CAVITEX), and C5 Southlink.
Under the old RFID tollways system, motorists use Autosweep when they pass through Skyway or TPLEX and switch to Easytrip when they use NLEX or SCTEX, causing inconvenience to travelers during account loading and payment.
