The Malabon City government on Monday, Oct. 20, held a coordination meeting with local government departments in preparation for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

According to the data from the Malabon Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), around 75,928 individuals were expected to visit local cemeteries and columbaria from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.

Mayor Jeannie Sandoval led the meeting and reminded the city officials to ensure peace and order, health protocols and emergency response must be implemented.

“Alam po natin kung gaano kahalaga para sa mga Malabueno ang Undas. Kaya naman po, ngayon pa lamang ay atin nang sinimulan ang paghahanda. Nakipag-ugnayan po tayo sa mga departamentong nakatuon ang serbisyo sa pagpapanatili ng kaligtasan ng mga Malabueno at ng mga dadalaw sa kanilang mga mahal sa buhay na nakalibing sa mga sementeryo sa lungsod (We know how important Undas is for the Malabuenos. That is why we have just started preparing. We have coordinated with departments dedicated to maintaining the safety of the Malabuenos and those who will visit their loved ones buried in the city cemeteries),” Mayor Sandoval said.

“Ano man po ang panahon, ay nakahanda tayo upang masiguro ang kaayusan para sa mas mapayapang pagbisita at paggunita sa mga araw na ito (Whatever the weather, we are prepared to ensure arrangements for a more peaceful visit and commemoration during these days),” she added.

To manage traffic flow near cemeteries and churches, designated pick-up and drop-off points for public utility vehicles will be implemented.

Traffic enforcers will also be deployed to guide motorists and visitors.

The city government will set up command posts and medical stations near entrances and exits of Tugatog Public Cemetery, Everlasting Peace Cemetery, Our Lady of Lourdes Eternal Park, San Bartolome Cemetery, Immaculate Concepcion Cemetery, La Purisima Concepcion Cemetery, Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, and Santo Rosario Parish.

The stations will ensure assistance and guidance are available, especially for senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and pregnant women.

Ambulant vendors are required to comply with the necessary permits and safety regulations to prevent accidents.

The visitors are urged to observe the following cemetery regulations:

- Firearms and all kinds of sharp or bladed objects (e.g., knives, cutters, ice picks).

- Alcoholic beverages and other intoxicating drinks.

- Flammable materials (LPG, thinner, excessive candles, firecrackers).

- Loud sound systems, stereos, guitars, or videoke/karaoke machines.

- Gambling activities (mahjong, cards, etc.).

- Smoking or vaping.

- Overnight stays inside cemetery premises.

- Unauthorized vending or selling within cemeteries and designated zones.

- Bringing pets is prohibited in major cemeteries.

The city administrator encouraged residents to observe peace and order during Undas.

“Maaga pa lamang ay naghahanda na tayo para sa Undas 2025. Ang mga paghahandang ito ay ating ipapatupad upang masiguro ang kapayapaan at kaayusan. Panawagan po natin sa ating mga kapwa Malabueno na panatilihin ang kalinisan at makiisa sa ating mga tagubilin para sa maayos na paggunita ng Undas (We are already preparing for Undas 2025. We will implement these preparations to ensure peace and order. We call on our fellow Malabuenos to maintain cleanliness and cooperate with our instructions for a proper celebration of Undas),” City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete said.

The Tugatog Public Cemetery will be open from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
