The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is building its first-ever hospital in Taguig City, offering the guardians of the country’s 36,289-kilometer-long coastline access to modern medical facilities and quality healthcare services.
PCG Commandant Adm. Ronnie Gil Gavan led the groundbreaking ceremony for the PCG General Hospital at M.L. Quezon Boulevard, New Lower Bicutan in Taguig City on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
The medical facility has a budget of P749,294,138.39 and the contract was awarded to Jazy Inc., a construction company based in Pasig City.
It is expected to be finished within three years, and will also house the Coast Guard First Responder and Nursing Service Facility.
“These infrastructure projects represent a transformative step toward providing accessible, high-quality medical care with modern medical facilities equipped to deliver comprehensive, quality healthcare services to PCG personnel, their families, and civilians, especially during emergencies and disasters,” Gavan said.
Gavan noted that the establishment of the hospital and the first responder building was backed by a legislation.
He said the facilities were inherent requirements for the coast guard, stressing the critical role of the PCG in disaster response.
All PCG personnel and retirees, including their immediate families, can be accommodated by the health facilities free of charge, said PCG spokesperson Captain Noemie Cayabyab.
Gavan assured the public that the infrastructure projects will be constructed “in the most efficient way.”
