Bicol Saro Party-list Rep. Terry Ridon said the pick-up truck driver who went viral on social media for beating up an elderly man should be slapped with a lifetime revocation of his license, along with criminal charges.
"Lifetime revocation dapat ito bukod sa 90-day preventive suspension, at may kulong for physical injuries (He should get a lifetime revocation aside from the 90-day preventive suspension, also jail time for physical injuries)," the lawyer-legislator wrote in a Facebook post at around midnight Monday, Oct 20.
Shared by Ridon in the same post was a video of the viral road rage incident from the Department of Transportation (DOTr's) Facebook page.
The video saw a male driver of a Toyota Hilux attacking a much older male driver of a passenger bus in Silang, Cavite.
The DOTr identified the Hilux driver as Arny Jose Montes.
According to a police report, the Hilux made a right turn and collided with the passenger bus.
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has ordered the pick-up driver to appear and explain why he should not be administratively charged with reckless driving, obstruction, and violation of Republic Act (RA) No.4136 (Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle).
The Hilux has also been placed under "alarm status".
