The Taguig police said one worker died and three others were injured when an elevator core wall collapsed in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) on Oct. 20.
The accident happened at about 11:10 a.m. at a construction site at the corner of 9th Avenue and Lane D in BGC.
Initial investigation revealed that while the victims were installing rebars at basement 2 of the construction site, the elevator core wall suddenly collapsed, hitting the four workers.
They were rushed by the company nurse and staff to St. Luke’s Medical Center in BGC for medical treatment.
However, one of the victims was declared dead on arrival at around 12:11 p.m. by the attending physician.
Personnel from the Taguig police led by Col. Byron Allatog, officer-in-charge and Maj.
Ruperto Martin Sazon, Substation 1 commander, responded to the scene to investigate and secure the area.
The scene of the crime operatives (SOCO) processed the area, while the Investigation and Detective Management Section (IDMS) will coordinate with the Taguig City Engineering Office for an official site inspection and structural safety evaluation.
Further investigation is ongoing to determine possible lapses in safety protocols and establish liability.
