The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has warned its members against sharing personal information on social media, emphasizing that the agency does not collect personal data through any of its official online platforms.
In a statement issued in line with Cybersecurity Awareness Month, PhilHealth said its feedback channel through the Corporate Action Center “does not collect personal information on official social media pages such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Spotify.”
“The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) stands firm to its commitment to protecting the privacy and personal data of all its members,” the agency said.
The state health insurer said that its verified social media accounts are used only to share official information, respond to general inquiries, and direct members to appropriate channels for specific concerns.
“PhilHealth assures everyone that its official social media platforms are used solely for disseminating official information, responding to general inquiries, and directing members to appropriate channels for specific concerns,” it added.
PhilHealth reminded members to avoid posting or sending personal details online, such as their full name, address, birthdate, or PhilHealth Identification Number (PIN), to prevent potential data breaches or scams.
“Members are reminded to never share personal details such as full name, address, birthdate, or PhilHealth Identification Number (PIN) on social media platforms,” it stated.
For confidential matters such as PIN verification, claims status, or contribution history, the agency advised members to use its official hotlines and email channels, which are designed to handle personal data securely in compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
PhilHealth encouraged the public to refer to its Privacy Notice at www.philhealth.gov.ph/privacy for more information on how their data is protected.
The agency also urged the public to stay alert against fake or unofficial pages pretending to represent PhilHealth and to report suspicious online activity immediately.
“PhilHealth also encourages the public to be watchful and report any suspicious activity or unofficial accounts claiming to represent the agency,” it said.
