Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) Executive Director Brian Hosaka on Monday, Oct. 20, rejected Vice President Sara Duterte’s claim that the body was only formed to control the government’s narrative on the anomalies in flood control projects.
Speaking in a press conference, Hosaka said ICI’s direction “will go where the evidence takes us regardless of the personalities involved".
It is for that reason that the body is inviting anyone who has information about the massive corruption scandal to come up to the ICI headquarters in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
“Let us know. That way, hindi naman 'yan tungkol sa (it's not about) any narrative 'no,” he said.
On Saturday, Duterte told reporters she believed that the ICI was only created to "legitimize" the government's narrative. The body was opened to make it look like whatever it would report to the public was already official.
“There is no narrative here,” Hosaka clarified. That is, other than to "find those accountable and return the money" that was stolen through the anomalous flood mitigation projects.
“Our narrative is the evidence to be presented to us. Doon kami kung ano ang ebidensya, kung ano ang testimony makukuha namin, doon kami tutungo (We will go wherever the evidence brings us, wherever the testimonies gathered will point us to),” he said.
