The Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s Office junked on Monday, Oct. 20, the criminal complaints filed by businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang against whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan and Alan “Brown” Bantiles due to lack of evidence.
In a resolution dated Sept. 30, prosecutors ruled that there was insufficient evidence to pursue cases of robbery, grave threats, grave coercion, slander, and incriminating an innocent person filed by Ang.

The investigation revealed that the social media post cited in the complaint was not supported by authenticated proof identifying the uploader.
The Mandaluyong Prosecutor’s Office also cited inconsistencies in Ang’s statements and noted that the evidence presented failed to establish intimidation.
Records further showed that the outgoing calls related to the alleged harassment incident were made by Ang himself.
The OCP added that despite accusing Patidongan of plotting a crime against him, Ang continued to provide financial support to his mayoralty campaign.
The prosecutor’s office concluded that the evidence presented was inadequate to warrant the filing of charges.
Ang’s camp said it will appeal the ruling before the Department of Justice (DOJ).
