Batang Pinoy: Bacolod sending 166-strong contingent

BACOLOD CITY – A total of 144 young athletes accompanied by their 22 coaches will represent this highly-urbanized city in the Batang Pinoy 2025 in General Santos City from Oct. 25 to 31.

The city government held a send-off ceremony at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) grounds during the flag ceremony on Monday, Oct. 20, formally recognizing the 166-member delegation to this year's Batang Pinoy National Championships organized by the Philippine Sports Commission.

They are competing in aquatics/swimming, archery, athletics, basketball, boxing, chess, cycling, futsal (boys and girls), gymnastics, Muay Thai, taekwondo, beach volleyball, and wushu.

Mayor Greg Gasataya, in his message, urged them to compete with sportsmanship and pride.

Gasataya announced this city's official bid to host the national youth sporting event next year. "We are hopeful that Bacolod will host Batang Pinoy 2026," the mayor said.
