PAGASA: 'Ramil' moves over Manila Bay

Tropical Storm Ramil (international name: Fengshen) has moved over Manila Bay on Sunday morning, Oct. 19 but is expected to continue bringing heavy rain and strong winds over Metro Manila and parts of Central Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
As of 10 a.m., the storm was moving west-northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour (kph) with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
On its forecast track, Ramil is expected to continue moving west-northwestward or northwestward as it traverses the Central Luzon landmass before emerging over the coastal waters of Zambales or Pangasinan in the afternoon.
PAGASA said it is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Monday morning, Oct. 20.
It added that the storm may maintain its strength or slightly weaken while crossing the mountainous terrain of Luzon due to frictional effects.
Once over the West Philippine Sea, re-intensification is likely, and Ramil could reach severe tropical storm strength outside the PAR.
In the PAGASA’s 11 a.m. bulletin, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 remains hoisted over the following areas:
* Southeastern portion of Quirino (Nagtipunan, Maddela, Aglipay)
* Central and southern portions of Nueva Vizcaya (Alfonso Castañeda, Dupax del Sur, Dupax del Norte, Bambang, Aritao, Kayapa, Santa Fe, Kasibu)
* Central and southern portions of Benguet (Itogon, Bokod, Atok, Kapangan, Tublay, La Trinidad, Baguio City, Tuba, Sablan)
* Central and southern portions of La Union (Rosario, Pugo, Tubao, Santo Tomas, Agoo, Aringay, Caba, Naguilian, Burgos, Bagulin, Bauang, City of San Fernando, San Juan, San Gabriel, Bacnotan, Santol, Balaoan, Luna)

Moderate to heavy rainfall (50 to 100 millimeters) may also continue in Aklan, Antique, Romblon, Camarines Norte, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Quezon, Metro Manila, Bulacan, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Cagayan, Benguet, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Kalinga, Abra, and Apayao.
