Marikina LGU releases list of 'safe zones' for earthquakes, other disasters

The local government of Marikina has identified and released a list of designated “safe zones” in each barangay as part of its preparedness efforts amid the recent series of earthquakes and other disasters in the country.

It said these areas serve as safe locations for immediate evacuation and community assembly when needed.

For District 1, the designated safe areas in each barangay are as follows:

Barangay Barangka
•UBB-FBR Road 
•Barangka Basketball Field
•Loyola Cemetery

Barangay I.V.C.
•C5 Access Road corner E. Abello
•Major Dizon Road

Barangay Jesus Dela Peña
•Manila Bay
•Provident Riverside

Barangay Kalumpang
•Ground Golf Area
•Barangay Hall Grounds

Barangay Malanday
•Golden Valley Open Space
•Park Land Open Space

Barangay Sta. Elena
•River Park
•Freedom Park
•Plaza delos Alcaldez
•SNR Access Road

Barangay San Roque
•Chestnut Open Space
•Midtown Phase 1, 2, and 3, Open Space
•San Roque Elementary School Open Space

Barangay Ang Sto. Niño

Meanwhile, the local government reminded the public that the listed areas are not the only designated safe zones.

It encouraged residents to identify the nearest open space from their homes or workplaces where they can safely evacuate during an earthquake.

The LGU also urged residents to know their designated safe zone and share the information with their families and neighbors in case of disaster.
