A magnitude 4.1 earthquake struck off the coast of Arteche, Eastern Samar on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 19, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its Earthquake Information No. 1, Phivolcs said the tectonic tremor transpired at 1:24 p.m.
The agency reported that the earthquake had a depth of 10 kilometers.
Per the agency, it located the epicenter about four kilometers south-southeast of Arteche, Eastern Samar.
Phivolcs said the quake was tectonic in origin, meaning it was caused by the movement of rock layers beneath the Earth’s crust.
The agency said no damage or aftershocks are expected from the earthquake.
